Slay the messenger

Instead of fixing the issue, fire the whistleblowers as an example of what happens to them. That way, no one will be tempted to do so again. It worked for the Chinese.

We are going to disagree on this one. You actions made PUBLIC to our enemies that your ship was compromised.
He did not lose one single sailor but he did loose his top and went outside the chain of command. What would have happened if he got attacked for real and sailors died? post it in Instagram?

I haven't seen any evidence that he was the leaker, nor was that the reason he is being fired. In fact, the Admiral himself said that there was no indication that he was the leaker.

Miguel,

1. Do you think that the Chicom Intel services didn't know about the issue? The families of the sailors did (I know this for a fact), so we need to assume that Beijing did, too.

2. We're not losing people who are not already health-compromised, and yet we've shut down the entire fucking economy, throwing ten million out of work, I'm all ears about what is fundamentally different about the crew in a time of peace.

3. Attacked by who (err, "whom")? Martians? If Congress wants to lock down the Chinese, they have the Constitutional power. If POTUS wants to lower DEFCON, then he has the Constitutional power. Sailors dying? How many of the 5000 would die from the outbreak? If the answer is "none" then why the fuck have we shut down America? We're not all confined on a ship.

Divemedic, sorry for the rant.
