Burning out

One of the signs that a pandemic is going to burn out is that people who are considered essential begin avoiding the infected. This means that people who normally work like firefighters, police, and medical personnel begin avoiding the sick by not coming to work. There are signs that this is happening now:

Combined with the fact that NYPD officers are calling in sick in large numbers, and you see the picture.

I spoke with a friend that has a daughter working in a hospital lab. They are not being furnished gloves, respirators, or face shields. I have a feeling those working there will find reasons not to go to work. Their absence will have a profound effect on the hospital.

That's bullshit! As a nurse you can't be turned in for abandonment if you quit your job! And if you asked to enter a quarentined room without PPE its a OSHA violation.

My son works at a hospital that has the same rule for their nurses. Luckily, as a nurse practitioner, he doesn't work for the hospital.

From my understanding, the worker is a pharmacist tech, and processes samples. Regardless, according to OSHA, PPE is required to be furnished by the employer, so I took the info as suspect. Still, if that is what is happening, the final result will not be good.
