I seriously think that a judge who lets a convicted felon walk out with little to no jail time after he is convicted for the 15th time in the past 10 years should face criminal charges when that felon murders someone.

The thing I'm wondering is with 230 felony arrests and God knows how many crimes he wasn't arrested for, how is he not dead?
It's Florida, there's almost 2 million CCW permits issued and it is legal to have a loaded, secured, firearm in your vehicle without a permit.
Ratus, even though it's Florida and we're allowed to defend ourselves and others, according to state law, it still doesn't stop prosecutors from being vindictive little jerks while pandering to certain segments of the population in order to get re-elected or elected to a higher position.
And...
Blame the prosecutors and judges. Where a plea bargain of a felon down to a misdemeanor is worth the same or more for promotions and bonuses of the prosecutors than fighting a good case through the court system.
And once the now-pled down individual finally gets his/her/its 10 seconds in front of a judge, the judge (in order to continue to get elected by the segment of the population that supports the segment of he population where most criminals come from) further thrashes any actual penalties, often assigning them non-monitored probation or some other bull-scat.
Saw this when my job was to track cases from beginning to the end of the sentence of the suspect. Watched (via reading court records) while a suspect who committed crimes while on probation gets... probation, and eventually enough probations are continually violated that the judge... cancels the probations with no other repercussions because apparently putting a multi-probation offender in prison is a bad thing.
This crap happens all the time. ALL THE TIME. That guy who has a rap sheet 500 pages long? All arrests, most charges dropped during plea-bargaining, other charges dropped due to pre-trial diversion, other charges dropped due to entering a 'drug offender program' or other garbage.
We are literally surrounded by career criminals who make their living being criminals and have no reason to actually try to not be criminals because the system is so screwed up they (the criminal) have a better life than if they actually worked for a living. Get arrested, get free medical care, get your teeth worked on, get eyeglasses and treatment for anything and everything, get released commit crimes, get ordered to pay restitution to the state and the victims and don't and there's no penalty and you can continue to live your untaxed life of crime living the good life.
If you are a CCW, you take your life into your own hands if you dare to shoot a suspect, as prosecutors will line up to make a career of turning you into the bad guy and will ruin your life and your family's life in order to make political points with the media and the great unwashed masses of criminals and criminals' families who all vote for....
Yeah. Not burnt out by the criminal injustice system. Noooo...
