“Unhappy it is, though, to reflect that a brother’s sword has been sheathed in a brother’s breast and that the once-happy plains of America are either to be drenched with blood or inhabited by slaves. Sad alternative! But can a virtuous man hesitate in his choice?” - George Washington, 1777

First gators, now sharks
In keeping with yesterday's photo, Tampa, Florida received 21 inches of rain over the weekend. This resulted in flooding. A tiget shark took advantage of the flooding to take a swim down Bayshore Blvd in the Channelside district.
The local newspaper has a fishing supplement on Thursdays, in which it shows locally-caught fish (among other things). Last week was particularly impressive, as the showed half of a fish: a 4-pound largemouth bass, which had once been 8 pounds. I was thinking, "Wow, that was a really big fi...HOLY FUCK! Aren't largemouth bass FRESHWATER FISH??"
Umm, why wasn't I told before I moved down here that bull sharks can handle brackish water so unsalty as to support largemouth bass??
