“Unhappy it is, though, to reflect that a brother’s sword has been sheathed in a brother’s breast and that the once-happy plains of America are either to be drenched with blood or inhabited by slaves. Sad alternative! But can a virtuous man hesitate in his choice?” - George Washington, 1777

We are doomed
This is why this country is going to shit. These people's votes count the same as the votes of people who actually have knowledge of things that do not happen on Twilight, American Idol, and other stupid television shows.
Until The Won decided that revolting Libyans needed help from American drones, when was the last time Libya mattered to the US?
Back in the early days of the Iraq campaign, when it came out that he was abandoning his nuclear program, my first reaction was along the lines of "what, he's still around? And he had a nuclear program? Who knew?".
I'd be inclined to forgive anybody meaningfully younger than me for having no clue who the guy was, other than the latest recipient of American ordnance. And there have been so many of those lately...
While their votes count the same as yours and mine, the good news is that for the most part they can't be bothered to vote. What happened in 2008 was an anomaly and indicators now are that it won't happen again. As so often happens, they lose interest in serious matters as soon as the next fad comes along.

Meh. How old are they, I wonder?
