Probation

So I posted here about the three 15 year old black kids that beat and robbed a 13 year old white kid on a school bus in Gulfport, Florida because he refused to buy marijuana from them. The three 15 year olds broke the 13 year old kid's arm

The three pled guilty to aggravated battery and robbery in an apparent plea deal and were sentenced to probation, community service, anger management classes, a curfew, and must wear an ankle monitor for 60 days.

We know that probation does nothing: at least one of the three black teens that killed the baseball player in Oklahoma was on probation, and even went to his scheduled appointment with his probation officer a few minutes after the murder.

Drug seekers

There is a woman who has used the 911 EMS system to get free drugs for years. I first met her in 1996. She is so good at faking seizures, that more than a few paramedics have given her the drugs she was looking for. This woman travels around the southesastern USA, and gets around: I have met paramedics from all over Florida, as well as Georgia, North Carolina, Mississippi, and even Maryland who know her. She has been a patient on the shows "Paramedics" and "Trauma: Life in the ER." My former agency alone has transported her to the hospital thousands of times.

She has also been arrested quite a few times. See how much she has changed over the years:
This is how she looked in 1998 when arrested for Making a false 911 call

She was arrested a few times over the years: 2005, Domestic Battery on the elderly  then in 2007 Misuse of 911 system, Fraud in obtaining EMS service  followed by March 2008, Making false 911 calls
after that, September 2008, Unnecessary summoning of an EMT, Paramedic, or Ambulance when she looked like this:

She was arrested a few more times: 2009 Fraud i obtaining EMS service then followed by 2010 Fraud in obtaining EMS service  and then again, twice in March March 2011, Making False 911 calls  and March 2011, Misuse of 911, with 3 previous convictions  and then: December 2011, False 911 call, with 4 previous convictions when she really started to deteriorate:
This woman is costing society hundreds of thousands of dollars in EMS fees, medical costs, and the cost of jailing her. I will not mourn her passing.

Illegal war

The President is looking to strike Syria in the upcoming days, ostensibly as retribution for the deployment of chemical weapons against Al Qaeda terrorist rebels operating in his country, attacks that caused quite a few collateral deaths, including women and children.

He is willing to do it without British backing, and without the backing of the UN security council. There is no way for Obama to secure this permission, because the Russians have stated that they will veto any attempt to do so.

In many speeches and interviews leading up to his presidency, then-Senator Barack Obama regularly used the death toll resulting from America’s Middle East engagements as a campaign talking point. Back in 2007, then candidate Obama had this to say about President Bush going into Iraq without UN approval:

This president may occupy the White House, but for the last six years the position of leader of the free the world has remained open, and it's time to fill that role once more...The United States must build a 21st century military, in addition to showing wisdom in how we deploy it...
The socialists of the world, and a subset of them, the US Democratic party, were absolutely critical of Bush invading Iraq, calling it "Bush's illegal war" because he did not get the permission of the UN to use force. In an Op Ed piece in the New York Times, Obama had this to say:
“I believed it was a grave mistake to allow ourselves to be distracted from the fight against Al Qaeda and the Taliban by invading a country that posed no imminent threat and had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks. Since then, more than 4,000 Americans have died”
Senator Barack Obama, July 14, 2008
So when the cruise missiles are fired, this will become Obama's illegal war. At least in Bush's case, he will have gotten the permission of the US Congress. Obama's action will be unilateral. My prediction: the Democrats will be silent.

So the next time a person asks me about Obama or Bush, I will ask them about Bush's failure to secure UN permission, and how they feel about Obama doing the same. If the answer is "that's different" I will tell them to shut the fuck up, adults are talking.

Ignorance can be bliss

In response to a recent post about my brother being oblivious to crime in ethnic neighborhoods, TOTWTYTR posted this:

I hope you won't take offense when I say that you obviously got the common sense in the family.

I am not offended, but I think that this illustrates a basic divide in how paramedics and the rest of society perceive our world. On the one hand, you have people that live their lives getting their news from the MSM, who we know filters crime reports to remove mentions of blacks committing crime. These people are the soccer parents. They are busy with work, careers, taking the kids to soccer and baseball practice, and they travel in a circle of polite company. All of their friends are basically like them (as is the case with most people). The only contact that they have with homeless people is that heartwarming story they saw in the local paper about the homeless mom with two kids, and the homeless guy that they have a dollar to yesterday. Their main experience with drug users is seeing them on shows like CSI. The only black families that they know are also professionals, and more closely resemble the Cosby or Obama family than they do the hard core gangsters of central LA.

On the other hand, we have street paramedics. Decades of running the streets and venturing into the sorts of neighborhoods where shootings are a nightly occurrence, picking up homeless psychotics, and pushing naloxone into heroin addicts opens your eyes to what the world really is. I have seen a man murder his father to steal a couple of thousand dollars from him, a woman murder her four kids and kill herself to punish her straying husband, and I have seen men cut each other open for a cellphone. I often tell people that this is the true price that we pay for being paramedics: We lose our belief in humanity. Maybe that faith was never justified in the first place, but after a time spent watching people in their truest form, your eyes are open, and you forever look at humans differently.

After a year or two of working the streets, you see humans not as my brother and his friends do, but as the most dangerous and lethal life form on the planet. When my son began working in EMS at the age of 18, he once told me that I was burned out because I had made a remark about frequent flyer homeless bums. He said that it was time for me to find a new career, because I was jaded and didn't have empathy. A year into his career, he told me about a guy that had been taped to a chain link fence, crucifiction style, with duct tape. The people who put him there had taped a plastic bag over his head and left him there to suffocate. Think about how cruel that is. Two years later, he was sounding exactly like I had when he called me burned out. I still chide him about that.

Looking upon man's inhumanity to his own kind, you lose a part of your soul, like a child that loses his belief in Santa Claus, a bit of childhood innocence and wonder is gone. That loss of childhood innocence is the price we pay for being adults, just as our loss of faith in humanity is the price that paramedics pay to remain sane after seeing the things that we have seen.

My brother isn't a moron, he is just ignorant to the world as it exists beyond his visible horizon. In some ways, this makes him naive and blind to the truth. In other ways, this is a blessing.

Roots of racial crime

Graybeard points out that the issue of crime and poverty is not as much about color, but is about culture. I agree, and I think that it is deliberate. Let me explain:

Marriage is a losing proposition financially for most men. If a man is working for a living, that is. He is faced with a choice: marry a woman who works and has a career, in which case the taxes on the married couple are higher than they are on two working individuals; or marry a woman who doesn't work, and gain the additional tax deduction at the expense of having to support someone financially and take the risk of being sentenced to a life of servitude in the event of a divorce like this poor bastard.

On the other side of the coin, the woman has little incentive to marry, either. At the lower end of the socioeconomic ladder, there are all sorts of government programs and handouts that are there for the taking if you are a single mother. Subsidize something and you get more of it. At the upper end, child support is a lucrative subsidy for a single mother that has children by a wealthy man.

The stigma of fatherless children is gone. Now, being a single mother gets a woman sympathy rather than scorn. Children as young as 12 years old are striving to become pregnant, and then many of them are pushing the children off onto their own parents, and the grandparents that should be enjoying their later years are spending them raising a second generation of offspring. This is why 22% of our nation's children are living in poverty, and the problem is getting worse. Among minorities, the problem is even more severe: 38% of black children, and 32% of Hispanic children fall below the poverty line.

The number one indicator of living a life of poverty is being born to a single parent, and the number two is being born to a parent that is under the age of 25. Nearly half of all children being born in the US are being born to unwed mothers, many of them under the age of 18. The problem becomes self perpetuating.

What is happening is that we are penalizing people for working and being productive, and subsidizing them for creating more people who will be dependent on government handouts. With poverty disproportionately affecting blacks, many of them see this as proof of racism and demand more handouts, thus making the problem worse. So many of them become angry at a perceived racist economy and turn to crime.

Theme park crime report

As I have reported from time to time here, I regularly carry a gun at the area theme parks, including Disney, Universal, and Sea World. There are many people who claim that I am being paranoid, and that no crime happens at these places. They are wrong, and I will remind you of the posts I made on this subject in:
February 2013 again in January 2011 and again in September of 2007.

The theme parks are a target rich environment for every type of criminal from property criminals like pickpockets, burglars, and shoplifters to violent criminals like armed robbers, pedophiles, rapists, and murderers.

 Disney employee burglarizes hotel rooms
Pedophile takes pictures of young boy in bathroom at Disney's Animal Kingdom
Woman cut and robbed by another woman weilding a knife in the bathroom at Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure
Credit Union on Sea World Drive robbed at gun point

Don't assume that the theme parks are any safer than anywhere else. Even though there are security officers and cameras everywhere, there  is still quite a bit of crime in the parks, and you better believe that the criminals know how to avoid them. Be aware, be armed, be careful.

Police State

Orlando is considering changing the ordinance that mandates bars stop serving alcohol at 2am. All the local press is talking about is that the city is planning to extend the bar hours to 3 am for those over 21 years old. for those under 21, the hours will be cut, with those patrons being forced to leave at 10pm.

That isn't the scary part. You see, the devil is in the details. Under the new ordinance, the establishments will have to scan a driver's license before a patron can enter the bar. The chief of the Orlando Police Department has already said that he will use the records of who was in which bar and when to track people. He claims that this will aid the police in solving crimes.

Stuart says police want the change.  "They want it to create a safer environment.  They want to quit having to bring in patrols from outside the area."

This police state shit makes me want to vomit.

Death

My brother thought it was cute and funny that his 12 year old son went into a very dangerous neighborhood and had his picture taken while standing in the projects. He thought it was so funny, that he even posted the picture of him on Facebook. In the three weeks preceeding this, 22 shootings were reported in that neighborhood.

A 15 year old kid has been charged with two counts of murder in connection with those shootings, along with armed burglary. The child's father was arrested on charges of negligence and illegally allowing his young son access to a firearm used in a death. Three other people, aged 17, 20, and 20 have also been charged in the two murders.

My brother told me that I was being racist by telling him to stay out of that neighborhood. After over two decades of seeing what life is like as a street paramedic, I know how that area is, and I am not willing to risk the lives of my kids to show the world how "fair" and "unbiased" I can be.

Standing your ground

A pizza delivery driver is robbed by a man with a knife. The driver produced a handgun and shot him dead. The critter in question had quite the criminal record: multiple felonies for armed robbery, accessory to first degree murder, kidnapping, and other charges. There are those who would argue that the driver should have just handed over the cash, and hoped that the criminal decided not to kill him.

This is what it means to have a "Stand Your Ground" law.

Congratulations, Mr. Park. You get to enjoy the rest of your life.

Kicking the can

I want to take a minute to let everyone know what is happening to Florida's east coast reef areas. The South Florida water management district and the Army Corps of Engineers are draining polluted swamp water from Lake Okechobee into the Indian River. We went diving there last weekend, and the algae has turned the ocean waters green. There were few fish on the reef, the water was 10 degrees colder than normal, and the salinity was way down. The only life that was abundant were the jekkyfish, and several of us were badly stung. Thermoclines and haloclines were everywhere. Currents were disrupted and abnormal. I have been diving the reefs in this area for 15 years, and have never seen this before. Of the four of us who dove in this water, two of us got sick about three days after being in the water. Here is a picture of how bad the reef is now, compared to how it usually looks:

This is a case where the real estate developers have caused a problem and left the mess for the taxpayers to clean up. Rather than deal with the problem, the state has decided to dump the polluted runoff into the ocean, and damage one of the biggest assets this state has.

It's about control

Now that employers are required to insure you, they are going to make sure that they control you. Fish Medical center is now refusing to hire anyone that is a user of tobacco, citing the increased costs smokers present to insurers.
How long before the "studies" that have been ordered by the Obama administration show that gun ownership increases costs? We can control people in every way: Overweight? SCUBA diver?

One thing you won't see: Women present greater costs because of maternity coverage. Can we refuse to hire women? Of course not.
Gay men are at higher risk of contracting AIDS, and present higher costs. Can I refuse to hire them?

In a world where the government considers it to be discrimination for an employer to refuse to hire a high school dropout, or a person with a criminal record, this smells like another lair of control to me.

More on the race war

A few days ago, I posted about the possibility that many American blacks have decided to declare a race war against whites in this country. Here is more evidence of that:

On August 6, three black 15 year old males savagely beat a 13 year old white kid on a school bus. It is caught on video.

Last March, two black 16 year old males pour gasoline on a 13 year old and set him on fire, while yelling "This is what you deserve. You get what you deserve, white boy."

A large crowd of blacks, up to 20 of them, beat a man into critical condition last April. They used brass knuckles, pipes, and even paint cans as weapons. One of the assailants even said "Justice for Trayvon" during the attack.

In June, a black mob of 20 attacked a mother and her family on a picnic in Niagra Falls. They hurled racial slurs and told them they did not like their “Puerto Rican (expletive) music.”

In July, a dozen black teens attacked a 34 year old white man in Milwaukee. One of the attackers said it was "for Trayvon Martin." Meanwhile, in Washington, DC, three black men attacked a white man and stole his iPhone and wallet after telling him that, "This is for Trayvon Martin." Just down the street in Baltimore, a white woman was robbed by a black mob, who then chased down and severely beat a white man, leaving him with a broken jaw.

EDITED TO ADD: Five black kids attack an elderly white man.

I could go on and on, but you get the idea. This being a prepper site, I want to leave all of you with some advice on prepping for this:
~ Don't travel on foot in areas of town where minorities congregate.
~ Keep your head on a swivel. If it looks hinky, get out of there.
~ Staying in a crowded area may not help you, as the crowd itself may be targeting you.
~ Be armed at all times.
~ Have an escape plan.
~ Putting a video recorder in your car wouldn't be a bad idea.

As a follow up to this post, how about this BOV?

Robocop 2

More redlight ticket madness.

Revenue generators Traffic Cameras in Washington, DC operated by private companies have written a total of 4,019,023 tickets worth a total of $305 million. That is equivalent to one ticket not just for every resident of Washington, DC, but for every single resident of the District plus surrounding Virginia and Maryland suburbs. In a 2009 case, a Washington, DC judge ruled that if more than one car is visible in the photo for a speeding ticket, there is no way to prove which car was speeding. So how do the companies respond? They tamper with evidence by cropping the photos.

Miami makes $3.5 million a year from about 15,000 citations issued by traffic cameras. In order to contest your $158 red light ticket, a driver must pay an additional $85 to an appeals board that works entirely for the city. Wanna take a guess on how many appeals will go your way? Even if the appeal DOES go your way, the city still gets your $85 appeals fee. The city hires the hearing officer, who is not required to have any legal training and cannot use formal rules of evidence. Now this person will be a rubber stamp for $85 fees, ALL of which are kept by the city. They have to pay the camera vendor and the state out of the $158, so the $85 is all gravy. Since when does the government get to accuse you of a crime, and then charge you a fee in order to prove your innocence?

In Newark, the city improperly wrote more than 20,000 tickets at $500 each over a 6 1/2 year period.

Meanwhile, NOLA cops are using their cameras to line their own pockets then laundered the money through the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation, a tax-exempt organization that describes itself as "dedicated to supporting the people and processes of the criminal justice system in New Orleans."

The first southern New Jersey municipality to issue a red light camera ticket admitted in 2011 that it issued 12,000 tickets worth $1 million at an intersection where the yellow light time was illegally short.

Voters in Hernando County, Florida will decide whether or not to get rid of red light cameras by voting on a referendum in 2014 (pdf alert)

The voters in Sugar Land, TX aren't so lucky. The camera contractors in that town have been helping the local politicians perform some legal maneuvers to deny their voters the opportunity to place a referendum on the ballot.

Researchers at the University of Tennessee had this to say in a recent study:
"A literature survey reveals that most municipalities implementing red light cameras are committed to private red light camera providers with certain revenue goals to financially sustain their red light camera programs," the study found. "Most red light cameras are installed with dual, conflicting purposes, reduce red light running and maximize private (and public) sector revenue from red light running citations"

It is becoming increasingly obvious to me that the government in this country is, at every level, simply a scam for some to gain wealth at the expense of others.

Race War?

A baseball player is killed while jogging in Oklahoma. The three children who did it had "previous scrapes" with the law. The parents say that the kids are being framed. The teenagers were keeping a log of the crimes on their Facebook pages, killing an animal and then a person. "Bang. Two drops in two hours" was the post.

The 17 year old getaway driver says that they were bored "so they decided to kill somebody".

The father of the 15-year-old admitted his son had been in trouble with the law, but described him as a good boy. The 15-year-old's mother is in jail. James Edwards, whose screen name is "Blackcoon44" has a number of pictures on his Facebook, including pictures of himself with firearms, wearing a mask, and with thousands of dollars in cash. This is the culture that produced Trayvon Martin.

The mother of the 16-year-old accused of firing the single bullet from a handgun into Lane's back said she didn't believe her son was involved. His brother, Justin Lemar Dill, died last year from a brain injury. Jennifer Luna says the three accused, her 16-year-old son Chancey Luna, and his friends James Edwards and Michael Jones are a part of a "wannabe gang." But she is confident her son is not a killer.Chancey Luna's Facebook page is mostly private, but one picture on the profile caught my eye:

Whether we want to admit it or not, many American blacks have decided to declare a race war against whites in this country.

EDITED TO ADD: Matt Bracken's comment for the win:
And they were not even hungry or afraid, just bored. Just wait until 50 million EBT cards blink out, and they are starving.

Martin shooting and CSGV

The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence has released a video “reenactment” of the shooting of Trayvon Martin in order to encourage people to oppose “Stand Your Ground Laws”

In a display of "reasoned discourse" comments are disabled.

Here is a link to the Huffington Post article. I prefer what Andrew Branca has to say over at Legal Insurrection:

Had they felt any affinity for the truth, they might have mentioned Martin’s emerging from the darkness to fell Zimmerman with a blow the neighborhood watch volunteer never saw coming, a blow that hit with such force that it broke Zimmerman’s nose, and which he described to police that same night as feeling as if he had been hit by a brick.
Had they felt any affinity for the truth, they might have mentioned Zimmerman’s many and numerous injuries about the head and face, especially those caused by Martin striking Zimmerman’s head on a cement sidewalk, with any single blow capable of being the one that turned Zimmerman into a drooling vegetable or simply taking his life.
Had they felt any affinity for the truth, they might have mentioned Martin’s long record of school violence, his engagement in street fighting, his apparent drug use, his apparent gun dealing, and his self-expressed desire to beat his victims until they had suffered “enough”.
Had they felt any affinity for the truth, they might have mentioned Zimmerman’s long history of affectionate and communal relationship with black neighbors throughout his life, from his childhood to the present day, or indeed Zimmerman’s own mixed-race background.
Lies and distortions. That's all they have besides dick jokes.

Pay cuts

Remember when I warned that pay is declining around here for everyone in emergency services? Here is the listing for a firefighter position in Titusville, which is to my east and just across the Indian river from the Kennedy Space center. Note the starting pay for a firefighter-paramedic: $38,458. Now that doesn't sound bad, until you remember that a firefighter works a schedule of 24 hours on, 48 hours off.

This results in 56 hours per workweek, but firefighters are special cases under the FLSA and they do not get overtime until they work more than 53 hours in a week. This means that to determine the hourly wage, we divide their annual salary by 2990. That starting pay for a firefigher-paramedic is $12.86 an hour. This is why they post the job as an annual rate instead of the hourly.

For a job that requires EMT school (3 months), paramedic school (1 year), firefighting school (5 months). as well as a number of other classes that must also be taken: EVOC, PALS, PHTLS, as well as having a spotless driving record for the past 36 months, and you are required to be available 24/7 for recall for any reason.

Pizza delivery drivers make nearly $20 an hour. The guy who fills vending machines gets $10.50 an hour, nurses (who attend about the same amount of schooling) start at $25 an hour. Do yourself a favor if you are thinking about a career in emergency services: stay away.

Six day workweek

Now that the Affordable Care Act is becoming reality, we are seeing the effects. Hospitals are seeing their Medicare payments. This is causing layoffs and pay cuts for health care workers. Also, employers are cutting the hours of workers, so that they fall under the definition of 'part time' and are thus not required to provide the employees with health insurance.

With health insurance changes requiring insurance companies to insure people with preexisting conditions, and not charge those same people more for their increased risks and costs, insurance premiums will soar, and this will force many employers to cut insurance benefits out. The company will do one of two things: pay the fine for not insuring the workers, or avoid the fine by transitioning to a part time work force.

Since the limit for part time is 30 hours per week, my prediction is that employers will begin a schedule of three 9 hour workdays for employees, that will total a 27 hour workweek. This will create jobs, but they will be part time jobs. This will mean that employees will have to obtain a second job to make ends meet, especially considering that they will have to obtain insurance at a cost of $400 per month or so, or pay the fines.

This will mean that Americans will work 9 hours per day, six days per week. A 54 hour work week, and less real money to show for it.

Is this the change you voted for?

Molester

Back in May, I posted about an 18 year old Vero Beach woman that was arrested for having a sexual relationship with a 14 year old girl. She is back in the news. It appears as though the state prosecutor offered her a plea deal where she would not go to jail. One of the conditions was that she not try to contact her victim, a condition that she violated. They are moving forward with the charge of lewd or lascivious battery on a child between the age of 12 and 16, a second degree felony. If convicted, a second degree felony will get her up to 15 years in prison.

The gay rights crowd is up in arms, claiming that this is being done solely because the girls are gay. I say they are full of crap. I present to you the case of Terry Gorby. The 18 year old Mr. Gorby had what he claimed was a consensual relationship with his then 14 year old girlfriend. He was convicted of the exact same law that Ms. Hunt is being charged under. There goes your "this is only because she is gay" argument.

She had a deal to avoid jail, and she violated the terms of that deal with 20,000 text messages, and through FaceBook messages. She sent at least 25 lewd photos of herself to her child victim, along with a video of herself engaged in a sexual act. All since March 1. Her victim is STILL a 15 year old underage girl, and Ms. Hunt is now 19. She is a CHILD MOLESTER.

Hunt is an ADULT and she has been for nearly two years. It is time that she take responsibility for her actions. Her victim was 14 at the time of the sexual act, and is only 15 now. She expressly violated a court order to not have contact with the victim.

Compounding this,Ms. Hunt's mother also contacted the victim and asked her to delete the photos, messages, and video so that police would not have the evidence to prosecute her daughter.

The "Romeo and Juliet" law may not apply here: That law only allows you to be removed from the sexual offender database if you have only one sex crime conviction. Since she committed more than one (the original sex act, and then the act of sending sexually explicit photos and videos to a minor on at least 26 occasions) she will not be eligible, if the state decides to pursue the additional crimes.

I still stand behind this statement: The same people who are crying about ruining the girl's life for this would have no problem ruining her life if she were being arrested for having a shotgun in the trunk of her car that was in the parking lot.

Preparation = organization

A day of SCUBA diving: there are about a hundred things that have to get done: gear has to be checked for function, tanks filled, all the stuff packed, reservations made for the charter boat, a change of clothes for the return trip, and dozens of other details before the four hour trip to the boat.

I have found over the years that the best way to get this done is through the use of checklists. I have a checklist for everything from calculating the weight needed in a diver's weigh belt to making sure that all of the equipment makes it to the car. I began making preparations a week before we are scheduled to go on the trip.

Then there is the other school of thought: Sleep in until a half hour before hand, and then spend that thirty minutes frantically looking for stuff like sunscreen and dry bags to keep your clothes in, while getting mad at your dive buddy for pointing out that he has everything he needs, because he has a check list.

Of course, we leave half an hour late and I am sure something has been forgotten.

Perspectives

There is a new movie in the pipeline that tells the story of what it is like to be a paramedic. Here is a teaser, where an older medic talks to the younger, idealistic new medic.

The only thing they forgot was that you do it for less money than a pizza delivery driver makes.

Like the drink

Two men are wanted on drug charges, escape, and for dragging a deputy down the road with their car. The son of one of the men is also arrested for aiding in the escape and hiding the men. Channel 6 WKMG reports on the story, but leaves out a description or photos of the three men. Why do you think that is?

Because two of the three men are black. 33 year old Andrew Coffee Sr, and 19 year old Andrew Coffee IV are both involved in the crime. I don't know how a 33 year old man can be the great grandfather of the 19 year old, so that must be incorrect, but a 19 child to a 33 year old man means that IV was born when Sr was only 14. Again, a corrupt culture.

As I have reported before, the press largely avoids reporting the race of criminals when those criminals happen to be black.

Stand your ground

Stand your ground seems safe in Florida for now. The members of the Legislature that wanted to get rid of the self defense law failed to gain enough votes for a special session.

Name this BOV

Volkspanzerkampfwagen?

ATVW?

Just give them what they want

and maybe they won't hurt you...

Why haven't we seen this in the national media? This is why I carry a gun. I ain't going out like that...

The couple never saw Boyd cruise into the parking lot at Washington Ridge with passengers Davidson and Cobbins. An armed Boyd and Davidson jumped from the car, leaving Cobbins behind. At that point, the pair intended only to rob Christian and Newsom of the SUV. But as they approached the couple, guns drawn, headlights from another vehicle spooked them. They pushed the couple into the SUV.

Testimony has shown that Christian and Newsom were bound in the SUV with whatever cords the assailants could find. Newsom was forced facedown in the vehicle. A bound Christian was dumped onto his back.

One of the attackers said: “Two white people, white kids, this (expletive) fixing to get crazy, man, you know what I mean?”

But according to the paper, there is no racial motivation for the crime.

The white male victim's body was found, anally raped, shot in the back and neck, then shot again in the head, execution style. The body was then wrapped in a blanket, soaked in gasoline, and set on fire.

The white female victim get it even worse, if you can believe that. For hours, she was raped anally, orally, and vaginally. The criminals then crushed her genital area with a boot or other hard object, beat her over the head, and then poured bleach into her in an attempt to destroy DNA evidence. The bound her, wrapped her head in one garbage bag, placed her in a second, and then sealed her in a garbage can to suffocate.

I am opposed to the death penalty because I don't trust the government to be honest. However, this story shows that some humans are simply evil. That is the reason why I carry a gun.

The real question here is why the press goes to such great lengths to cover up and minimize black on white crime, while at the same time sensationalizing and even inventing race crimes when it is white on black.

Almost there

Police agencies in Central Florida are beginning to wear cameras and record their surroundings. You would think that this is a good thing, and I have even posted before that this should be required. However, the cops have the ability to shut off the camera. I don't have a problem with that, as no one wants a video of a cop taking a dump.

However, there needs to be a law that penalizes police any time the recording is shut off in the course of his job:
A citizen accuses the cop of brutality and the recording is unavailable, then the cop's testimony, and the testimony of fellow cops is inadmissible.
Same thing if a cop arrests someone based on something the cop observed: you say you saw them man dealing drugs, and the video is broken, then your testimony as a cop means exactly squat.

Suggestions?

I have been toying with getting rid of Windows. It is a very unstable system, and after awhile, the computer becomes unstable and begins randomly crashing. I get tired of having to trash the entire operating system and reload it every 6-12 months. I last did it to this machine about 16 months ago, and it is nearing time to do it again because it crashes and requires a hard reboot about twice a day now.

Not only that, but Windows is a highly insecure operating system, and I am not sure that I am willing to accept this any longer. I used to be a gamer, but this is not really the case any longer, as the only game I really play any more is Kerbal Space program. The hassle of learning to use a new operating system is now becoming outweighed by the risks of staying.

Apple's OS has its own issues, chiefly among them being cost, and so I am left to consider Linux. There are two problems with Linux:

1 I know nothing about it.
2 Compatibility

I need to find ways to run or replace the following software:
1. The MS office suite to include: MSWord, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
2. I am one of the few people that still uses Quicken, and I need to find a replacement.
3. Finding a way to run TrueCrypt on it
4. Handling multimedia files like pictures, video, etc
5 Running iTunes

What the deuce?

So Joe Arpaio has purchased 400 M4gery rifles for his offficers.

What the media missed, and what concerns me, was what else was in the photos that were part of the story:

That's right, a Ma Deuce. What in the world does a police department need a belt fed, .50BMG machine gun for? Grazing fire? The police have become the standing army that the founders were so fearful of.

Technical question

The iPhone stores its SMS messages in an SQL database file named sms.db. When a text message is deleted, the information contained in the text is still there, and all that happens is that the header information is deleted.

If you look at the file itself, you can read the contents of the text, just not the other information in the database, like sender, time received, etc. The contents of each text message in plain text are contained in the file, but are intermingled with other characters. SQL readers don't display the "deleted" messages, but the contents are still there.

What I am looking for is software that will extract the readable text from the file. Does anyone out there know of such a program?

Screwing them over

I recently posted a warning to people considering making the emergency services a profession. Falling pay and benefits, poor working conditions,  and an attitude among employers that you are replaceable is just making the profession untenable.

A good example is found here. The families of 19 firefighters who worked 52 weeks a year, 40 hours a week are denied survivor benefits by their employer because they were considered "part time seasonal" employees. One of the widows wanted to speak to the Mayor during a council meeting, but was told to sit down.

There are those who claim that the widow received a Federal benefit of $350K, so she has nothing to complain about. To them, I ask you this: Her husband was 29 years old, and they had four kids, who are all less than six years old. She will now have to raise those children and support herself, not on the pay that he would have earned, but on that three hundred and fifty thousand dollars.

We as a nation have enough to pay for single mothers to pop out kids, we give these women and their kids free healthcare, simply because they cannot close their legs. We do this, and we expect these brave young men and women to step up and enter the military, enter the emergency services, and then turn our backs on them and their families when they die serving us.

Shame on the Democrats for shitting on the military and emergency services, and sneering at honor, duty, and sacrifice while honoring lazy breeders popping out more welfare kids.
Shame on the Republicans for seeing the emergency services as simply unions that must be crushed.

Shame on employers for doing all that they can to screw over a group of men who died to protect your possessions.

Legal rape

Two women that are related to you are pulled over by a cop. You pull up behind the scene, and watch as the women you are related to scream for help, because the police officers are sticking fingers in their rectums and vaginas while they are bent over the police car.

That is what happened to Brady Hamilton and Alexandria Randle- they were sexually assaulted on this side of the road during a traffic stop, as relatives in another car watched.

I don't care what the law says about it being illegal to use force to resist a cop: A person would be justified in shooting both cops here, and if I were on the jury there is no way that I would convict a person who did so.

To the cops that are doing this sort of thing, and to the cops who know about it and aren't speaking out: Fuck you, I hope one of your victims shoots and kills you in self defense, you statist animal.

Increase minimum wage to $15?

An editorial at Bloomberg is talking about raising wages for places like McDonald's to a ridiculous $15 an hour, and how the company can afford to do it with minimum impact. I say bull crap. Here is why:

I wrote here that paramedics made $14 an hour in 2002, and Florida's minimum wage (pdf alert) was $5.15.
The Florida minimum wage is now $7.79 an hour, or 151% of what it was ten years ago. A paramedic now makes $13.23 an hour, or 94% of what it was ten years ago.

You reach a point where a person with no skills, no education, and no experience is making the same amount as a person who took the time to get an education or learn a skill, and you have just removed all incentive for anyone to go to school or work in a risky profession.

Many claim that a raise in minimum wage causes a "trickle up" effect by forcing everyone else higher, but that just doesn't happen unless the employers can raise revenue by raising prices. Since the federal government has price controls in place through Medicare billing laws, there is no way for an employer to come up with the money to give his paramedics a raise.

You eventually hit a wage point where a job that requires no education, no risk of injury, and no responsibility becomes attractive. I think we have already crossed that point.

College Demographics

The Federal government studies everything. One of the things that are studied is enrollment rates of colleges by various demographics. The demographic that this post will focus on is part of my continuing discussion on race that various people say that they want to have: college enrollment rates of 18-24 year olds by race.

According to the government, 41 percent of all people aged 18-24 were enrolled in college in 2010, with enrollment in 4 year colleges being about double of 2 year colleges. This is to be expected, since it takes twice as long to complete, there should be double the enrollment.

38 percent of black Americans age 18-24 are enrolled, compared to 43 percent of whites. Pretty close, especially when you understand that Asians, with an 82% enrollment rate, are counted as white for statistical purposes in this report.

Which brings us to the next fact. The gap between white and black college enrollment disappears when you eliminate high school dropouts: 46% of black versus 48% of white high school graduates are enrolled in college.

What we see as the problem here is that large numbers of blacks are dropping out of high school. In fact, 124,000 blacks dropped out of high school during the 2011-2012 school year.

graduates per dropout by race:
White: 12.29

Asian:  9.15
Hispanic: 5.20
Black 3.79

There is a problem here. For every black that enters college, there is one that dropped out of high school. I hear many people complain that blacks have lower credit ratings, incomes, and higher rates of incarceration than other races. Perhaps the best way to fix this is to fix what appears to be a broken culture of fatherless children, high school dropouts, the gang lifestyle, all of which contributes to multiple generations of government dependency. This will likely be more difficult than blaming racism, but will undoubtedly be more successful.

Smithsonian is cheapened

There was a time when I viewed the Smithsonian Institute of being one of the finest museums in the world. With this article, I believe that its reputation has been permanently stained, as our President again uses his position to unite America...

The museum’s director, Lonnie Bunch, said Mr. Martin’s hoodie, the one he was wearing the night of his death on Feb. 26, 2012, represents a unique opportunity to further the discussion about race in America,

So the thug Trayvon Martin is being used as the poster boy for black history? Why not pick someone who did something other than attack a man because the thought he was a soft target.
