Sowell on education

The aim of education formerly was the training of free minds to enable them to reach their fullest fruition, but education has now morphed into the indoctrination of servile minds so that they can pliantly bolt themselves onto the big industrial machine run by a smaller and smaller autocracy in a far distant capitol.
The problem isn't that Johnny can't read. The problem isn't even that Johnny can't think. The problem is that Johnny doesn't know what thinking is; he confuses it with feeling. ~Sowell
