Hypocritical Pope?

The pope has come out against greed, and is stating how we should be more giving, and not so materialistic. He states that we should give away what we have to the poor.

This is odd, coming from the richest man in the world. The Vatican is filled with priceless works of art, and the church owns billions of dollars in gold alone. Charity starts at home, buddy.

  1. Not to be an apologist for the Pope, Or catholicism, I believe all religions are equally flawed, the Cathoolic Church is doing more charity work around the world than all other faiths combined. All the "wealth" of the church is either in museums for everyone to see, where the entry cost of the museum goes to the museum and NOT to the church, or being used to fund some project or another.

The pope is the poorest man in the world, he doesn't even own his own underwear. Compare that to the thousands of evangelists using the money of their parishioners to buy suits, cars, homes, etc.

When the pope dies, everything he touched belongs to the Church. When an evangelist of some other religion dies, his family gets to keep the hard earned money of the parishioners. In this way, the Church GOT wealthy, and they use the wealth to help people all around the world.

  2. Whether or not he actually "owns" the wealth in the Vatican, the Pope lives in a mansion that contains thousands of pieces of priceless art, and the Pope has at his disposal all of the trappings of the wealthiest in the world.

The church does carry out charitable work, but how much more could be done with the billions it has in cash? The billions in Art, Gold, and other antiquities? I don't care that the church has money, but don't lecture me about greed when you live in a home filled with priceless art, and you are relieving yourself on a solid gold crapper.
